Chew Valley Compliance can offer you and your business assistance with meeting statutory requirements in relation to health and safety issues and also advice and help on gaining third party accreditations, such as CHAS, Safecontractor etc. We can also assist with setting up and auditing of quality, environmental and health and safety management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001).

Construction (Design Management) Regulations 2015

We are able to carry out various roles in line with the requirements of the Construction (Design Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM Regs) such as CDM-Coordinator or Safety Advisor. We can provide pre-construction information packs, construction phase programmes, completion of the F10 form, site files and on site monitoring.

Chew Valley Compliance can also carry out Health and Safety audits and Fire Risk Assessments at your property along with emergency light testing, portable appliance testing (PAT), fire evacuation/emergency plans, fire evacuation monitoring, fire warden training, fire alarm testing and fire extinguisher testing and repairs.

Fire Risk Assessments

Chew Valley Compliance are able to discuss your fire procedures and carry out a site inspection. From these inspections, we will produce a fire risk assessment based on the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 for England and Wales. The aim of this assessment is to identify the significant findings and, by deciding what physical fire precautions and management arrangements are necessary, to reduce the risk of hazards causing harm, thereby ensuring the safety of people in the premises if a fire does occur.

Health and Safety Assessments

Chew Valley Compliance are able to carry out a survey of our clients premises or workplaces and provide a report based on the aspects of health and safety covered generally by the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 (HASAWA) amongst other standards. Site visits are undertaken to highlight potential hazards and help to reduce risks of incidents occurring. Surveys will include items such as checks on correct signage and their placing within the premises, COSHH requirements and manual handling.

"Tool Box Talk" Style Training

Tool Box Talks can take place in our client's premises or in a location that suits the needs of the client. The training usually consists of a brief overview of legal requirements and a DVD presentation. Documentation is produced and offered by Chew Valley Compliance and are used during the session. Attendance certificates can be issued for continuing professional development (CPD) purposes where required. Topics include:

  •  Risk Assessments;
  • Manual Handling;
  • Slips, Trips and Falls;
  • Working at Height;
  • COSHH.

Legionella Risk Assessments

Health & Safety of the workforce in the workplace is of upmost importance and a Legionella Risk Assessment is the first step of a Legionella treatment or hygiene programme in accordance with ACoP L8:2013 - The control of Legionella Bacteria in Water Systems. Our dedicated providers offer this service, which is inline with BS8580: British standard for Legionella Risk Assessments.

Water Hygiene

We are able to provide full water hygiene based packages in accordance with ACoP L8:2013 - The control of Legionella Bacteria in Water Systems and HSG: 274 parts 1-3. This would incorporate:

  • Domestic hygiene programs for hot and cold water systems- tanks, calorifiers & showers etc.
  • Process water including evaporative cooling towers
  • UKAS Accredited microbiological sampling
  • Cleaning and disinfection of new and existing water installations in accordance with ACoP L8:2013, BS:8558 and BSEN:806
  • On site chemical testing of cooling water, closed LPHW/chilled water, swimming pools and steam boilers

We can supply, install and service all manner of water treatment equipment to include (but not exhaustive):

  • Water Softeners
  • Reverse Osmosis
  • UV Sterilization
  • Chemical Dosing Equipment (e.g. redox) for domestic and process cooling systems

In addition to the above we have a wide range of proven chemical products that will synergise with all water hygiene and water treatment activities.

Heating and Chilled Water Treatments

Building Services are an important factor to any new build or existing structure. We provide a full pre-commission service including cleaning and microbiological control techniques. We utilise a range of chemicals that are build certified and all work is carried out in accordance with BSRIA BG 29/2011. To complement this we can also carry out remedial works on existing closed heating or chilled water circuits including Pseudomonas prevention/control, chemical cleaning and dosing with appropriate inhibitors

Face Fit Testing

Chew Valley can also now carry out Face Fit Testing to the requirements of HSG53 (2013) Respiratory Protective Equipment at Work.  We can also provide training, through our partner network, in all aspects of health and safety, IOSH training courses as well as NVQ and specialist training in areas such as electrical, H&V, F-Gas etc.
